Melting Ceramics

Using extreme temperatures as a defining characteristic, the Melting Ceramics series is the result of a practice-based research on over-firing, the excessive heat treatment of clay. These distorted vases affirm the unpredictability of over-firing in every uniquely distorted form. The process of firing earthenware clay to a point at which the clay starts melting, creates a watertight layer over the vases, without the use of ceramic glaze. After being fired, every vase that comes out of the kiln is unique and unrepeatable.
