The Leveller collection is conceived from observations on pre-industrial sextants that sailors used to determine distance and location based on angular measurements taken from the Earth’s horizon. The sextants themselves were made of hand-formed metals and housed in leather pouches. The metal frames are hand-forged on industrial machinery and hammer-finished on an anvil. The seat is typically clad in hair-on-hide, colour-matched relative to a stitched-and-wrapped leather backrest.
